The ‘World’s Biggest Villas’ opens over the water at Soneva Fushi Resort in the Maldives
The resort opened what it claims to be the world’s largest one- and two-bedroom overwater villas on September 25.
Exactly what is the big size? The one-bedroom villas are 6,286 square feet and two-bedroom villas are 9,224 square feet. While there are overwater villas with more square space, these are also the largest of the one and two bedroom villas.
There are eight of these suites, called water rooms, available for reservation.
As breaking the record apparently wasn’t enough, these 8 villas also have glass floorboards – all this is better for seeing corals and fish up close without having to take a boat ride – private outdoor soaking tubs, wooden terraces with sunbeds, bathrooms Swimming (when there isn’t enough water for you in the ocean), retractable decks for stargazing from the bed and waterslides.

Like many Maldives holidays, Soneva Fushi is located on a private island – in this case, Kunfunadhoo Island.
Given that the property has several restaurants (including, yes please, a chocolate room), a kids’ club, tennis courts, an observatory, a diving reef, and even a glassblowing center, there’s a lot to keep you busy without having to go to any Elsewhere.
Since the outside is so interesting and colorful, the interiors keep the lighting lit with neutral furniture and linens.

And somehow that’s not all.
Soneva Fushi is also the home of Paradiso Cinema, the largest outdoor cinema screen in the Indian Ocean. Quarantine has never looked more glamorous.
