The Dodgers squad behind Clayton Kershaw in NLDS 2
Team Dodgers include no surprises in their National League Division Series Game 2 squad against San Diego Padres.
Austin Barnes will join Clayton Kershaw again on Wednesday after joining him in the second game in the wild cards series last week. As a result, Will Smith will be the designated hitter again.
However, this time, the Dodgers didn’t have a third mask on the list to act as a safety net if they wanted to pressure Barnes or if Barnes left the game. Keibert Ruiz, the third player in the Wild Card series, was excluded from the list. Transferring Smith to the Catcher would force the Dodgers to forgo DH. Director Dave Roberts said Matt Beatty is the Dodgers’ emergency striker.
Smith’s racket will remain in the lineup to take on right-handed Zach Davis, who has had more success against the Dodgers than most other shooters this season. Nibbling around the board to cause poor contact, Davis, 27, grabbed the Dodgers to five runs in 13 turns in two rounds.
Kershaw, a native of Dallas, will play Davis in his first major league match in the area across the street from the stadium where he grew up watching the Texas Rangers matches.
