The budget-friendly Spar supermarket chain beats its luxury competitors to become the best Christmas pie this year
The SPAR supermarket chain outperforms its high-end competitors to earn the honor of this year’s best Christmas pie in blind taste tests.

Fancy supermarkets have often experimented with great new ingredients or flavors in an effort to produce the ultimate ground meat pie.
But the best this year was made by … SPAR. The budget series beat its super-competitors to record its first win in the BBC Good Food Blind Taste Tests for Best Festive Show.
Other low-cost grocers have taken home gongs, too. Aldi won Best Christmas Pudding, Asda won Best Cranberry Sauce and Tesco won Best Jamun.
But the most surprising victory was Spar’s Luxury Mince Pies £ 2 package.

The Taste of Christmas Awards 2020 saw judges test more than 150 products from 13 supermarket stores. With 75 days remaining until Christmas, the Super Contestants still dominate 20 different categories.
Marks & Spencer has eight wins including Best Main Vegan Cake and Birthday Cake. Waitrose came second, taking first place in four categories including Best Wellington Beef and Best Pork in Blankets.

Stalls – the North’s favorite upscale supermarket – netted the Best Turkey Centerpiece for its £ 85 show. While Morrisons and Sainsbury’s are praised in three categories each.
