Steve Bruce appears ready to drop his main target in the Bournemouth Wilson attack

Newcastle player Matt Richie – who Bournemouth keeps an interest in signing – is not part of the deal.

Steve Bruce is desperate to attack the reinforcements and is set to land his first goal.

Coach Dwight Gayle lost to a knee injury until at least December and only Andy Carroll appeared in the last warm-up matches.

Wilson, 28, scored seven goals with Cherries last season, but was unable to prevent his relegation to the championship.

Wilson would be a huge acquisition for the Magpies after Middlesbrough lost them 5–1 in a pre-season match before the 2020-21 season.

The 28-year-old has been a standout player since joining Chrys in 2014 from Coventry, scoring 67 goals in 187 appearances for the club.

Wilson’s impressive performances in the Premier League also saw him in the England squad led by Gareth Southgate, as he secured his first call-up in November 2018 for matches against the United States and Croatia.
