President Trump has said he “generally” supports a ban on retaining police silence, but that in some cases they will be needed.

“I don’t like crowds,” the president said during an interview with Fox News that aired Friday. “I’ll say it, as someone who – you grow up and you fight and you fight or you see what’s going on, sometimes if you’re alone and you’re fighting with someone, it’s hard. And if someone brings you to the store, what are you going to do? And it’s really a bad person, and you know it, and they exist. I mean, we have some really bad people. “

“You have someone in the trailer, what are you going to do?” Trump continued. “Let me go and say, ‘Let’s start over, I’m not allowed to be in the bookmaker?’ The situation is difficult. “

“I think the notion of boats sounds innocent and so perfect. If two are on one, it’s a slightly different story, depending,” he said. “I think that would be very good, generally speaking, that should be the end of it.”

Regulations on police officers performing tasks could be local, the president said, but the federal government “can certainly make recommendations and very strong recommendations.”

The president’s comments come as Democrats and Republicans in Congress are working on legislative proposals aimed at combating police brutality and misconduct. A top Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives he said on Thursday would support a ban on collecting, a proposal currently included in a draft bill on democratic parliaments.
