With cinemas across the country and the world closing again as the coronavirus pandemic continues, studios have changed their release dates for several of their upcoming major releases, and that was Tuesday. Jurassic World: DominionTurn. The movie has been postponed to June 10, 2022 from June 11, 2021, and while fans of the franchise may be a bit disappointed that they have to wait an extra year. On Twitter, Trevorrow responded to news that the film’s release date was postponed, and encouraged followers to stay healthy and take care of each other while they wait for the movie to be released.

“Over the past three months, I have worked with an extraordinary cast and crew on a film that we cannot wait to share with the world,” he wrote. “Although we will have to wait a little longer, it will be worth it. Let’s keep healthy and look after each other until then.”

Jurassic World: Dominion It was one of the first films to resume production in July after production was halted earlier in the year due to the pandemic with Universal Pictures sparing no expense to make sure the movie set is a safe environment for cast and crew, including spending a large amount of money on testing for COVID- 19. The studio also rented an entire hotel near where the movie was filmed in the UK exclusively for the cast and crew to live while the movie was being made.

Trevorrow previously revealed that the mandatory break in filming the movie ended up making the sequel better, as they were able to perfect everything.

“For many of us, Dominion was already the biggest creative challenge of our lives, before shutting down,” Trevorrow shared with Empire. “The filming schedule really worked in our favor – the first four weeks we put into filming were mostly sequences with dinosaurs. So that allowed us to get a head start on the visual effects and organize some newer elements without the stress of a looming deadline.”
