The president says the CDC director is “ confused ” about the 2021 vaccine schedule

Trump also criticized his director for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Dr. Robert Redfield, who described him as “confused” for his suggestion that the Covid-19 vaccine would not be delivered until late 2021, in contradiction to his promises.

“He probably misunderstood the question,” the President told reporters at the White House of Dr. Redfield’s testimony to the Senate earlier in the day:

Trump said he “got the impression” that Dr. Redfield did not mean to say what he said earlier in the day from a later call he had with the head of the CDC.

Dr. Redfield also told senators that wearing a mask is, at this point, more effective than a vaccine that has not yet been published.

Trump responded to that when asked Wednesday evening, saying, “I think there are a lot of problems with masks,” claiming that the vaccine would be more effective in beating the disease. But then he added, “Maybe the mask will help.”

Trump: Coronavirus deaths in the United States will be low ‘without the blue states’

Donald Trump has blamed Democratic-led states as the United States approaches 200,000 deaths from the Coronavirus, indicating that the nation’s death toll would be much lower “if the blue states got out.”

The president made the statement during an ongoing press conference at the White House on Wednesday evening, in which he criticized his healthcare experts and threatened to launch a violent campaign in the event of election night riots.

Virginia Congressman Don Baer was one of many who was offended by the president’s comment, tweeting: “This is quite simply one of the most horrific and inhuman statements a US president has ever made.”
