After meeting the bosses, the big football is still forgotten

A comprehensive plan was presented for the Big Ten Presidents Sunday to conduct the fall soccer season, but the final decision is yet to come.

A person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press that the full board of chairs and advisors listened from all conference subcommittees to the two-and-a-half-hour return to competition task force. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because Big Ten has not made public his return to competition plans.

The person said the meeting collapsed without the chairpersons and advisors voting and without specific plans to hold them again.

However, if they act quickly, football might start as soon as the weekend of October 17th.

The medical portion of the presentation focused on what has changed since the conference postponed the entire fall sports season on August 11 due to COVID-19 concerns and how football can be played safely. Looming is the emergence of the daily rapid response tests for COVID-19, which were not available when university leaders decided to pull the plug off the season.

If the Big Ten can start by late October, an eight-game season and conference tournament can still be held in mid-December. This schedule can create Big Ten Teams to be part of the College Football Playoff.
