Mexico’s cases rise to 658,299
Confirmed coronavirus cases in Mexico have risen to 658,299, according to the country’s health ministry. The country has now recorded 70,183 total deaths.

In New South Wales, a swimming pool in the Blue Mountains was closed after a person who visited it tested positive for Covid-19.
Anyone who visited the Katoomba Water Sports Center on September 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. should self-isolate until September 18.
NSW Health notified the Blue Mountains City Council about the case late Friday night.
“My immediate concern is the community and council staff who may have been at the facility that day. My thoughts are with them.” Mayor Mark Greenhill said in a Facebook post, “This is going to be a nervous time.”

The President of St Basil’s Homes for the Aged has resigned in Melbourne.

Also today in Victoria, Melbourne is preparing for more protests against lockdown, after 17 people were arrested last week.
A “Freedom March” was planned at 11 am this morning in the city, along with other protests, despite stern warnings from the police and the state’s chief minister, Daniel Andrews.
“All you’re doing is spreading the virus,” Andrews told the protesters on Friday.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Luke Cornelius, went further, saying, “I feel a bit like a dog returning to eat its vomit.”
He said, “I’m sick of it.”
Last weekend, a demonstration was held at the Shrine of Remembrance, resulting in 17 arrests and more than 160 fines.

Victoria records lowest new cases since June
Earlier today, the state of Victoria released its Covid-19 numbers, which showed 37 new cases and six new deaths in the past 24 hours.
This is the lowest total number of new cases since June 26.
