Art, Design and Collectibles : Grand Opening of Three Hills Gallery in Taos New Concept of Art and Audio Satisfies Auditory and Visual Senses
on 2010/7/25 14:20:00 (177 reads)
Art, Design and Collectibles

(Prudent Press Agency) --- Three Hills Gallery, named for the three members of the Hill family, is proud to announce its grand opening on July 31, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m. Located in the former Fields Art Gallery at 332 Kit Carson Road across from El Monte Sagrado Resort, Three Hills Gallery features sculpture, painting and furniture from local artists and high-end vacuum tube audio equipment from Cary Audio Design and speakers from Totem Acoustic. The gallery will also participate in its first Art Walk sponsored by the Taos Gallery Association on August 7.

Three Hills Gallery showcases the two loves of Allison and Simon Hill, who met in Taos in 1988. They've returned after 13 years in Austin. "This place always had a strong heart connection for us," says Allison. "We always wanted our daughter, Sita, to feel at home here, and this is a way she can be part of the family's entrepreneurial enterprise in this community where we're putting down roots. Allison grew up surrounded by inspiring art, later worked in galleries, and framed artworks under Taoseña Carmen Woodall during the 1980s. Simon, a former IBM engineer and audiophile, spends his free time restoring vintage tube audio equipment. His love of the dynamic, warm sound of tube amplifiers and speakers, and their artistic qualities, seemed a natural fit with the traditional artworks the gallery would feature.

Art, Design and Collectibles : Custom Hand Painted, No Vinyl, Affordable and Quality Enriched Wood Signs of Your Choice
on 2010/7/24 14:20:00 (211 reads)
Art, Design and Collectibles

(Prudent Press Agency) --- Located in Sterling Massachusetts, Emmanuel and Christelle Francois, pride in their family business of creating wood signs (createyourwoodsign.com) for various occasions and at supreme quality with affordable prices. What is special about these wood signs are that they are completely handmade and hand painted. These wood signs have no vinyl used in them and they are the perfect addition to your living room or office space or even to be gifted to your loved ones on events of celebration like Valentine's Day, Birthday, Wedding Day or any such instances of significance. Wood signs have always been a part of our lives for ages now. Even with the advent of the many man-made materials for signs and boards that are etched with designs on machines with computerized fonts and designs, there is something so corporeal and congenital about using naturally occurring wood painted with handmade designs and fonts and variant colors by hand, giving it the rather personal and unique touch.

Christelle had the passion for hand painting the wood signs before the onset of their business and Emmanuel was well acquainted with the internet. Together they decided to manifest this incredible talent and disseminate to their fellow lovers of creativity and intellect with thoughtful sayings hand painted on natural wood and supply it on a global platform via their customer friendly website createyourwoodsign.com

Art, Design and Collectibles : Carmen Sotuela Captures Reality in a Maze of Milieu at Agora Gallery
on 2010/7/23 15:40:00 (151 reads)
Art, Design and Collectibles

(Prudent Press Agency) --- Chelsea's Agora Gallery will feature landscape artist, Carmen Sotuela, in A Maze of Milieu. The exhibition is scheduled to run from July 23, 2010 through August 13, 2010 (opening reception: Thursday, August 05, 2010). Spanish born artist Carmen Sotuela transforms canvas into paintings that reflect and capture themes of human suffering, hope, discovery, and our connections to nature. Sotuela's oil paintings exhibit both imaginary landscapes and lively realistic landscapes that reflect her love for the chromatic richness in her hometown of Galicia and El Bierzo, Spain. Sotuela's soft, firm brushwork has an impressionistic quality that creates strong directional movement within each painting. Sotuela describes her work as producing symbols within each painting that reflect themes of social injustice, the quest for peace, love, and the discovery and curiosity that nature brings. Sotuela's work leads the viewer from an imaginary dreamscape to the impressionistic landscapes of her hometown.

Alternating between the imaginary and reality, Sotuela's paintings manifest a sincere commitment to and concern for all life. Within each landscape, whether it is reality or altered reality, Sotuela uses consciously formed symbols that reflect her ideas of transforming suffering into hope and overcoming adversity.

on 2010/7/17 8:00:00 (149 reads)
Art, Design and Collectibles

(Prudent Press Agency) --- Beljen Mills Introduces Quik-Set Tapestry Framing System (patent pending). Charles Bunch, Chief Operating Officer of Beljen Mills states that the Quik-Set System enables economical UPS / Fed Ex shipping of framed tapestries up to size 6 feet x 9 feet and doing so with no wrinkling in transit by virtue of the proprietary design. Previously shipping of even a 4 foot x 6 foot framed tapestry would either be prohibitive or not accepted by the small parcel services at any price. Quik-Set dramatically reduces shipping costs for sizes 3 feet x 4 feet and up.

The heart of the system is removable spacers plus connector plates - the tapestry is upholstered at the finishing plant, the connector plates / spacers are removed to allow the framed tapestry to be folded back to back for compact packaging. At the destination connector plates / spacers are re-attached creating strong permanently framed decorative woven wall art.

Art, Design and Collectibles : Sandra Lee Gallery Presents 'Clouds and Abstractions" Featuring Donna McGinnis
on 2010/6/26 14:00:00 (336 reads)
Art, Design and Collectibles

(Prudent Press Agency) --- Sandra Lee Gallery presents the works of local artist Donna McGinnis in the upcoming solo exhibition Clouds and Abstractions, on display July 6 through 28, 2010. The gallery welcomes the general public to the opening reception in honor of the artist, to be held Thursday, July 8, 5:30-7:30pm. McGinnis has exhibited extensively in local and national art venues, receiving widespread critical acclaim for her distinctively soft skyscapes that have been honed over decades of dedication towards her artistic practice.

This exhibition will feature the artist’s landscape paintings as well as her recent abstract pieces. For McGinnis, the move between the two styles is fluid and seamless. In her famed representational works, soft billowing clouds and warm gentle hues represent the California dreamscape, and glowing sunsets over misty grasslands blend together in stillness and silence in a vision of a pristine uninhabited local landscape. Thoughtful sweeping brushstrokes infuse these lushly rendered paintings with golden effervescence and earnest beauty.

Art, Design and Collectibles : Sanskrit Tattoo Designs - 3 Designs and What They Mean
on 2010/6/26 11:40:00 (131 reads)
Art, Design and Collectibles

(Prudent Press Agency) --- Sanskrit is an ancient language that goes back about 3500 years. It still survives today in Hindu and Buddhist sacred writings and liturgy, which gives it a strong connection to the spiritual. It has made somewhat of a revival in recent times: Madonna has used it in at least two of her songs; a choir sang Sanskrit verses at the end of the final film in the Matrix Trilogy and again in Star Wars Episode 1.

Sanskrit Texts Tattoos

There are 700 concise verses in the Bhagavad-Gita. Lord Krishna spoke these to his disciple Arjuna. They are said to provide a definitive guide to the science of self-realization. If you cannot find a verse to suit your philosophy or belief, which seems unlikely, you can have your own translated into Sanskrit. However, you do need to make sure it says what you want it to say. Mind you, not a lot of people will know but there are those who will. This is important if you choose any of the verses, as a number of people will know if they are wrong. In fact, a couple of celebrities are wearing verses with the wrong spelling - so someone has noticed. It is worth questioning your artist to make sure he or she has some knowledge or experience in writing the language. You do need to do some research.
